The System of Vehicle Control (SVC) is an International system used in many countries around the world. Queensland Transport have adopted this concept in the "Keys to Driving in Qld " booklet (page 139 ).
The two steps in the SVC sequence that are often NOT applied correctly in a manual car are :
- Slow to the speed necessary to negotiate the hazard
- Select the appropriate gear to pass through the hazard
The old concept of engine braking causes excessive wear on clutch and gearbox and is no longer necessary to slow modern road cars, which are now fitted with very efficient braking systems.
Avoid unnecessary sequential down changing and save your clutch and gears.
At Brizwest Driving School we will teach you the SVC correctly on your way to becoming a smooth and safe driver.
