At Brizwest Driving School we like to give the student as much realism in the 90 minute Simulation Lesson as we possibly can. This is a bit like QCS practice tests for year 12 students. It lets you understand what is expected of you in the test and how to go about getting a good result.
The Simulation Test only takes about 25 minutes of drive time and reflects the real test.
To make the drive as realistic as possible, we like to start and finish these Simulation Tests in or adjacent to a Test Centre. You can be taken anywhere within 10 mins radius of the Test Centre and there are no set courses.
The Simulation Test.
Hello " Jan ", my name is " Kim " and I will be taking you for your Simulation Test.
I will be asking you to perform a series of driving tasks throughout your
assessment. You will be given clear directions in ample time.
If I don't give you any specific directions, please follow the road and be directed
by road signs, signals and road markings.

Vehicle Inspection. Next you will occupy the Driver's seat - turn on the " Dash lights " and activate the Indicators and Brake lights as requested. The Trainer will quickly walk around the vehicle and inspect it and then occupy the passenger seat.
Pre-Drive Check The pre-drive check asks you to locate and explain the operation of a range of
vehicle controls including wipers, washers, demister, air conditioner, seat
adjustment, hazard lights, mirrors and headlights. You will usually only be asked about any two of these controls. You may also be asked to test the horn
On Road Drive Finally you will be asked to start the engine and given instructions to begin the Drive. The Drive will continue with the Trainer only giving you course changes . eg At the roundabout take the first exit - turn right at the corner. The safe operation of the vehicle is for you to demonstrate.
Manoeuvres During the course of the Drive the Trainer will ask you to perform nominated manoeuvres such as: - Reverse parking - Turn Around - U Turns or Hill Starts
Test Review At the end of the Drive, the Trainer will give you feedback on errors you have made and let you know aspects you have done well and aspects that may need improvement.
At BrizWest Driving School we will take you on a course that will feature driving test situations that are as real as we can make them. During the drive, we record the errors you make and discuss what can be done to remedy those errors. At the end of the Simulation Test, you should be able to self assess your readiness for the real test.
