At Brizwest Driving School we recommend that learner drivers position their seat so that they can push the clutch all the way in with the left foot without excessively bending the toes as shown in the picture or without lifting the hip off the seat to reach.

If the Learner has to stretch to push the clutch in they will eventually not fully depress the clutch in changing gears and this could stop the gears synchronising.

The above seat position should be made independently of any lumber or height adjustments. The incline of the seat back is not covered in this brief note.
